Using PulseCanvas Studio
PulseCanvas Studio is a free, native macOS app from Protomota for creating visuals and music videos. These terms describe use of this website and the app. Our GuidesPrivacy Policy explains the app’s local processing and the optional Protomota newsletter.
Source-available license
Current PulseCanvas application code is provided under the PulseCanvas Source-Available Noncommercial License. Commercial reuse of the application source requires separate permission; using the official app to create commercial videos is allowed, subject to rights in your music and other assets. Earlier MIT releases retain their original license. Third-party software, presets and textures have separate terms. These terms do not take away rights granted by those licenses.
Third-party components and assets retain their own licenses and notices. Consult the source repository for the application license and third-party notices.
Your music and creations
You retain the rights you already hold in your own music and creative work. Importing or exporting a file does not transfer those rights to Protomota.
You are responsible for having permission to use and share the soundtracks and other material in your videos. Follow the applicable laws and the requirements of any platform where you upload your finished work.
Availability and support
The app is provided as is, without a promise of personal support, future updates, uninterrupted availability, or a fix for every reported issue. You may report bugs through GitHub, but a response or resolution is not guaranteed.
The warranty and liability provisions in the software’s applicable licenses apply to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits rights or protections that applicable law does not allow to be limited.
Apple and other services
The direct-download edition includes projectM under LGPL 2.1 or later, with corresponding source and rebuild instructions supplied for each release. The community preset and texture packs have separate, unresolved permission provenance; attribution is not a claim of licensing clearance. The App Store edition excludes those components. Downloads through the Mac App Store are also subject to Apple’s applicable terms. GitHub, the Protomota newsletter, and platforms where you upload videos are separate services governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
